Overview

A gym website with an online store, built with ASP.NET Core MVC in a layered architecture. Members can book sessions with trainers, and appointment updates appear in real time with SignalR. Data access uses Entity Framework Core.

01 · Problem

Gym members usually book trainer sessions and buy products in separate systems. The project was also built to apply design patterns in a realistic scenario.

02 · Solution

I split the app into Core, Application, Infrastructure and Web layers. Booking is separated into commands and queries with MediatR; data access uses a generic Repository and Unit of Work, and DTO mapping uses AutoMapper. Payment types use the Strategy and Factory patterns, checkout uses a Facade, the external product source uses an Adapter, and booking notifications go through a SignalR hub.

03 · Outcome

The result is a reference architecture with cookie-based authentication and cart, order and trainer modules that shows how the design patterns fit together. The payment step is simulated rather than connected to a real provider.
